Challenges

Challenges and Opportunities

Addressing the key challenges in optimizing Linstead Garden Machinery’s website for success.

Understanding the EVOPOS System

The integration between EVOPOS and the website is a critical aspect of this project. We need to determine:

  • Whether the system communicates one-way (WooCommerce to EVOPOS or vice versa) or is bi-directional.
  • How inventory and orders sync, ensuring accuracy across both systems.
  • Opportunities to optimize SKUs, especially when importing new products using manufacturer part numbers.

Approach: We’ll investigate the current integration setup, identify its limitations, and ensure a seamless flow of data between the website and EVOPOS.

Focusing on Professional Equipment

To position Linstead Garden Machinery as a leader in professional-grade equipment, we need to:

  • Prominently feature professional products on the homepage and key landing pages.
  • Provide a clear path for customers to explore domestic products, accessories, and consumables.
  • Ensure that all product listings, even domestic items, are profitable before displaying them.

Approach: Create a structured navigation system that prioritizes professional products while maintaining visibility for other items, ensuring profitability across the board.

Working with the Current Web Developer

The existing website is hosted on a £20/month plan, which may limit its ability to handle resource-intensive tasks such as:

  • Syncing with EVOPOS for inventory and orders.
  • Storing and managing 500+ products with high-quality images and detailed data.

Approach: While we can initially work within these limitations, we may need to explore server upgrades for better performance and scalability as the project evolves.

Working with an Existing Website

Unlike starting from scratch, working with an existing website presents unique challenges:

  • Importing data into pre-existing products, categories, and SKUs without disrupting the current setup.
  • Ensuring compatibility with the existing design and functionality.
  • Maintaining continuity for users and search engines to avoid traffic loss during updates.

Approach: Carefully map out the current website’s structure, ensuring all imports and changes integrate smoothly without compromising performance or usability.

Managing a Wide Range of Brands

The potential to import and manage a diverse range of brands presents both opportunities and challenges for Linstead Garden Machinery.

  • The ability to import and integrate extensive product data from key brands discussed, including Stihl, Polaris, Hentons (Cobra, Ego, Billy Goat), FGM Claymore (Masport, Echo), AS-Motor, Westwood, Ariens, Mountfield, Stiga, and Kioti.
  • Experience managing over 13,000 products from more than 10 suppliers at Mowers2Go, ensuring efficient handling of large-scale inventories.
  • Recognizing that the more brands we onboard, the greater the need for streamlined processes to ensure smooth management and updates.

Approach: Leverage proven strategies to efficiently import and manage large product catalogs, while implementing tools and processes to handle the growing complexity as more brands are added.

Turning Challenges into Opportunities

While these challenges require thoughtful solutions, they also present opportunities to enhance the website’s performance and customer experience. By addressing these issues strategically, we can create a scalable and efficient platform that drives growth and positions Linstead Garden Machinery as a market leader.
